The UnAmerican Attack on My Religious Beliefs

By Dean Odle

Since announcing my run for Governor of Alabama, I have been viciously attacked and mocked in the Alabama press for my religious beliefs. Most recently, by a so-called “conservative” radio host. (It seems the Right-wing in Alabama has their own version of cancel culture). Nevertheless, I am an unashamed Bible-believing Christian. That’s means that I believe God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation. That means that I believe God became a man by way of a virgin birth, lived a sinless life, did many miracles, died on a cross for the sins of mankind and then rose from the dead three days later. Modern science rejects this entire account of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Yet, we as Christians know this story of Jesus Christ to be true and we reject the unbelief and attacks of modern science when it comes to the our faith. They are wrong and we are right.

Having stated the above, I further reject the views and theories of modern science as it relates to the creation of the universe, the shape of the earth, true nature of the sun, moon and stars, and the origins of mankind. I believe the Biblical account of creation and the origin of mankind over what man says. I do not believe that we evolved from monkeys or that nothing exploded and somehow formed everything over billions of years (the Big Bang Theory). Neither do I believe in the heliocentric model of the universe. These are my beliefs based on the Bible and my research into true science, mathematics, private scientific experiments, NASA/military technical manuals and formerly classified government documents. I have interviewed a former Air Force Captain, Lt. Colonel Army, a 30-year commercial pilot, a Navy missile instructor, a Special Forces Army Ranger, engineers, and a theoretical physicist who have all confirmed Biblical cosmology to be the truth. I have even written a 479 page book that sites many sources and I have given hours of lectures and sermons on these topics.

Now, whether or not you agree or disagree with my religious beliefs or the conclusions that I have reached from my research, these are MY beliefs. Should I not be free to believe what I want without character assassination? America was founded on the principles of freedom of religion and freedom of conscience. In 1620, the Pilgrims came here to escape religious persecution and to worship and serve God as they chose. They wanted to be free to believe what they wanted to believe and to have the freedom to exercise their religion. This principle is enshrined in the 1st Amendment of our Bill of Rights in the US Constitution. Furthermore, Article 6 paragraph 3 of the US Constitution states:

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but NO RELIGIOUS TEST shall ever be REQUIRED as a QUALIFICATION to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

So anyone attacking me or trying to make my religious beliefs an issue to either qualify or disqualify me for public office is clearly acting in a most UNAMERICAN fashion. They are also clearly VIOLATING the spirit of the Constitution.

It should not have to be repeated in America that a candidates religious beliefs should NEVER be the determining factor of our vote for or against that person. The real question that you should ask before casting your vote for any potential candidate is whether or not you believe they will protect your God-given rights listed in our founding documents? Are they a fighter for freedom and the Constitutional rights of all Americans? Are they a person with morals and core principles or are they a scheming, flip-flopping politician or just a wealthy person who thinks they should rule over us? Are they willing to do what is necessary to protect our families from the rising tyranny? Will they lower my taxes, reduce regulations, fight corruption, and prosecute the criminals?

In American history, true Bible-believing Christians have always been fierce fighters for the freedom of all Americans. Just do a study on the Black Robe Regiment and men like George Mason, Benjamin Rush, Roger Sherman, John Jay, and Samuel Adams. All of these founding fathers were devout Christians who believed the Bible to be the inspired and inerrant Word of God. If that is my crime (believing the Bible), then guilty as charged. And like those founding fathers (who had different beliefs) my heart is the heart of a warrior and patriot for the kingdom of God, my country, and my state. As Governor, I will do whatever is necessary to KEEP ALABAMA FREE from the rising tyranny.
