Alabama Minority GOP Luncheon

I attended the Alabama Minority GOP luncheon on Saturday and was honored to hear and meet former Louisiana State Senator Elbert Lee Guillory. His speeches on why he switched from being a Democrat to a true conservative Republican are eloquent and powerful. He is a living legend.

During the 2013 regular session of the Louisiana Legislature, Guillory switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. In a video announcing his switch he calls the Democrats "the party of Jim Crow" and depicts "the party of freedom and progress" as the Republicans. Guillory called his switch "not only right for me, but for all of my brothers and sisters in the black community" as he left the Democrats for the Republicans. (Wikipedia)
